RegionNext2055
RegionNext2055 envisions a Baltimore region with safe, accessible, and affordable transportation options no matter how you choose to get around.
We’re starting to build the RegionNext2055 plan, and your voice matters. Explore what’s ahead and find out how you can get involved below.
What is RegionNext2055?
RegionNext2055 is a long-range plan for how people and goods will get around this region over the next 20 plus years. Local and state leaders work together to shape the best mix of transportation projects to prepare our communities for the years ahead.
That includes improving roads, buses, trains, and bike paths. We also consider how changes in our region such as new technology could impact travel.
Why This Planning Matters
Our region is facing major changes and challenges:
- Costs are going up for families as well as for transportation projects
- New technology and travel options—like scooters, on-demand rides, and drones—are changing how people and goods move around
- Severe storms and flooding are happening more often, the electric grid is burdened
- Major disruptions, like the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, affect daily travel
- Population growth is slowing and community needs are changing
